World Menopause Day 2022 Recap

World Menopause Day is held every year on October 18th. The focus of World Menopause Day is to raise awareness of menopause and the support available for improving health and wellbeing. On this day, three sessions were held across Thomson Reuters to recognize and raise awareness for menopause.

Session One: Discussing the Menopause in the Workplace with Dorothy Byrne

Our first workshop of the day, we hosted a ground-breaking session on the topic of menopause in the workplace. Our guest speaker, Dorothy Byrne, President of Murray Edwards College and former Head of News and Current Affairs at Channel 4, led the discussion on the importance of addressing menopause in the workplace. The session was a huge success and emphasized the need for these types of discussions and policy development.

Session Two: Menopause: An Overview with Dr. Nicole Jaff

We also held a webinar in conjunction with Health Partners UK on the topic of menopause. The webinar, hosted by expert Dr. Nicole Jaff, covered menopausal symptoms and how to take responsibility for midlife health. Dr. Jaff shared valuable information on the medical issues related to menopause, and the session was well-received by attendees.

Session Three: 10,000 Coffees on Menopause in the Workplace

In our October 10,000 Coffees chat, our virtual networking tool, we had a roundtable discussion on supporting menopause in the workplace from both a manager and employee perspective. Attendees shared their experiences and ideas on the topic, fostering a personalized and informal discussion.

These events highlight the need for open dialogue about menopause in the workplace and the importance of addressing the issue. By creating a supportive environment for employees going through menopause, companies can improve productivity and reduce absenteeism. Let's continue the conversation and break the stigma around menopause in the workplace.
