Support launched for workers going

Electricity employees are being offered support in the run-up to World Menopause Day (October 18) and during World Menopause Month (October).

 

UK Power Networks, the company that keeps local electricity supplies flowing across the East, South East and London, is offering a webinar and a new Employee Menopause Network for support and information. The company will have health experts giving information and answering questions at the webinar on Friday (October 16).  Working with Menopause will offer information about the perimenopause, menopause, treatment, HRT, support and tips on talking about menopause with their line manager.

 

Organiser Jean Kelly said: “The age profile of women at UK Power Networks tells us that one in two women within our organisation could be experiencing menopausal symptoms. As more employees go through the menopause during their working lives, employers need to be aware of the impact it can have on people’s lives. This is the first time we have tried a webinar on this subject to directly help our employees and promote discussion, so I am looking forward to it.”

 

One participant said: “I’m pleased the company is taking such an interest and starting on this journey to support women at work who will all experience the menopause in various forms. From those I’ve spoken to, many of them have no idea that their symptoms are related to the menopause or who they could talk to. It’s a massive subject which affects not only the woman involved but her family and often her work.”
