Staffordshire Fire and Rescue support Stoke Pride 2017

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service has supported Stoke Pride for many years and 2017 was no exception.
Stoke Pride has rapidly expanded into one of Stoke-on-Trent’s biggest and most vibrant annual local festivals welcoming the whole community not just those who identify as being LGBT+. This year saw an increase in the attendance, boosting the most popular Pride Stoke has ever had, possibly down to it’s relocation to Hanley Park from Northwood Park which was Pride’s home for several years.
Hanley Forest Park was transformed to various street names of various famous LGBT people where there were different stall holders from the charity sector, food and drink as well as other statutory services.
The purpose of Stoke Pride is to create a safe environment, for people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender, their friends, family, but also the wider community to come together and celebrate diversity and culture within the city. Pride is a fully inclusive event open to everyone and is a fun and family friendly gathering which attracts visitors not only from the city but from
across the county.
The Staffordshire Fire and Rescue stall was run by volunteers who encouraged partygoers to sign up for an email to remind them to test their smoke alarms, to sign up to news about the fire service, this was done by entering a prize draw of amazon vouchers, freebies of Frisbees and clappers were also given out and were popular with children and adults alike.
Some fire safety advice had been given out along with advice for people wishing to join the fire service.
