I feel very privileged to have been able to attend Bath University on 16th October. Nick Short, Simon Roberts and I joined ASPIeRATIONS to go through interview training with a number of Bath University students who are on the Autistic spectrum.
It was an incredibly valuable experience where some of the key takeaways were: To use clear wording in the interview questions, competency questions are much better than 'theoretical questions' eg. what would you do in this situation? Providing interview questions prior to interview and also allow time in interviews for acclimatisation.
Things to consider are; noise, lighting, how the room is set up. We are all individuals and there isn't a 'one size fits all' approach when it comes to interviewing neurodiverse candidates however I really appreciated the opportunity to increase my understanding and to meet some fantastic Bath Students!
