Sage Early Careers and Newcastle United Foundation - Engagement with young people through VR

Category: Social Mobility

Early Careers

We had a fantastic time at the end of November at the Sage Early Careers and Newcastle United Foundation launch of our VR Headsets. A ground-breaking initiative that promises to revolutionise the way we approach engagement with young people, and their learning and development.

It has been a real joy working with Dawn Barber and Jessica M. throughout the partnership. It's refreshing to see how much you truly care about the work you are doing for the community!

The collaboration between Sage and NU Foundation signifies a commitment to innovation and excellence in the tech industry, and in particular, a dedication to supporting and empower young people to secure the jobs they love. No matter what their background!

The Sage and NU Foundation VR experience is an exciting and safe way to give young people the chance to ‘virtually’ visit Sage, see the activity that takes place, and hear from key members of the team, including our CEO Steve Hare.

The headsets will be used as part of careers delivery to young people aged between 11 and 25 at the NU Foundation HQ, and by delivery staff working with young people in the community in the Northeast. In addition to this, Sage Early Careers has purchased VR headsets to take to schools, colleges, and universities across the country, ensuring that we are best-in-class at engagement events, showcasing the latest technology.

The highlight of the event was an amazing panel discussion featuring some of our outstanding customer support apprentices, three of whom began their journeys with Sage through the NUFC Foundation programme. The confidence displayed on the panel was inspiring. It's hard to believe they only started at Sage in October! Their stories are a testament to the power of partnership in nurturing talent and fostering growth.

It was an absolute delight to have our Chief Technology Officer, Aaron Harris, with us at the event. His insights and vision for the future of technology added immense value to the discussions. A big shout out also to our Executive Sponsor, Kirsty Waller, whose unwavering support has been instrumental in making this partnership a reality.

Special thanks to our dedicated leaders in Customer Support, Sharon Oley and Jonathan Cummins, for taking time out of their busy agendas to come and support their young team members. And finally a thank you to Jonathan Cowan for consistently showing his support to the Early Careers community at Sage!

As we embark on this exciting journey, we look forward to the positive impact this partnership will have on the next generation of tech professionals. Together, we are shaping the future of technology and empowering young minds to reach new heights!
