We provide high quality jobs for over 150,000 people in the UK. Our people are our biggest asset. They are daily ambassadors for Royal Mail Group.
Investing in our people is a key part of our strategy. For us to modernise successfully, our people need to feel valued and recognised. We provide competitive salaries and benefits packages, where appropriate. We provide good paid maternity and paternity leave, adoption leave and special leave for military service.
We offer a defined contribution pension scheme for new employees, who can join this after 12 months service. Rewarding performance:
As part of the Business Transformation Agreement 2010 with the Communication Workers Union, payments are available to frontline employees in our letters business for modernisation. This is paid when agreed changes to working methods that allow for more automation - sequencing mail down to individual delivery rounds - are made.
In mail centres it is paid to people for reaching targets for automatic sequencing of mail. Similar arrangements were made in Parcelforce Worldwide. There is the opportunity for all eligible managers to earn a bonus, based on clear criteria, aligned to the sustained success of our company.
Celebrating Success: As well as rewarding people for their contribution to our business measures and targets,we celebrate key areas such as loyalty, leadership, improving the way we work and going above and beyond the call of duty:
Our annual Chairman's Awards for Excellence recognise unsung heroes within the Group who make a difference every single day to customers, colleagues, our company and the communities our people work or live in. We also have long service recognition awards which reward loyalty, experience and service to the business. Retirees are recognised by our retirement and leavers recognition awards. There are also local and specialist recognition schemes within Royal Mail Group, such as the National Safety Award and the Regional Excellence Award. Line managers are encouraged to recognise excellent performers within their teams with rewards such as gift vouchers.
