Colleagues in Swindon have raised £1,000 for three local children’s hospitals.
The Swindon diversity team raised the money with a campaign dubbed ‘Give a Quid to a Kid’ which asked colleagues to donate £1. The funds were then divided between Great Western Hospital in Swindon, John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, and Royal Berks Hospital in Reading.
After being contacted by the Swindon team, each hospital made a different request. John Radcliffe and the Royal Berks wanted toys, colouring books and games, while the Swindon Hospital wanted the money to fund an outside play area.
Philip Gee, Swindon plant support manager, said they were also able to donate money to the Oxford and Reading hospitals because the team raised much more than they expected.
‘What the diversity team has achieved this year is brilliant. The Oxford and Reading postcode areas were amalgamated into the Swindon plant a number of years ago and the team wanted to give something back to the areas in which our employees live.’
