The Defence Civilian Muslim Network (DCMN) works with the MOD to raise awareness of its values and ethos as well as those of the wider Civil Service. The Network aims to ensure that MOD is committed to diversity and inclusion and that its policies respond to the varied needs of staff. The network also provides support to Muslim staff, and direction to MOD and employees, on religious equality to facilitate an improved workplace. The Network externally operates to strengthen the reputation of MOD as an employer of choice by improving relations and mutual understanding within the Muslim and wider community it serves. The Network not only aims to increase engagement amongst Muslim staff but has, as its ideal, an ethos where staff of all, or no faith, cultures and ethnicities within the MOD unite to support the wider organisation.
The network has created and shared Ramadhan guidance for managers, colleagues, and senior leadership across Defence with further information on what Ramadhan is, why it’s important to their Muslim colleagues and how we in Defence can support them during this holy month.
