Recruiters need to use data to make the business case to employers for more diverse candidates, says Richard Beaven, operations director of Lloyds Banking Group.
Speaking at a diversity & inclusiveness forum hosted by boutique recruitment, search and talent services organisation Ocean Partnership in London yesterday, Beaven highlighted the power of statistics in convincing a client to recruit diverse candidates.
“There is a huge wealth of data that shows that organisations that are diverse and inclusive are more successful than those that aren’t,” Beaven said. He urged recruitment firms to use this data when approaching their clients with candidates that may otherwise suffer prejudice.
The responsibility of recruiters lies in “showing how talented their diverse slate [pool] of people are” and explaining to companies that inclusivity leads to business success.
Beaven was joined on the forum’s panel by David Walker-Smith, managing director of department store Fenwick of Bond Street, and Dan Robertson, diversity & inclusion director at the Employers Network for Equality & Inclusion (enei). To find out more about enei click here.
