Join the Maritime and Coastguard Agency

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is recruiting. A number of roles are on offer within the commercial management and programme and project management professions.

Since 2015, MCA has been the sole provider of search and rescue helicopters in the UK.  MCA successfully took over from the Ministry of Defence in providing these lifesaving services which since they started in 2015, have rescued or assisted over 3,000 people. 

Today the MCA operates 30 aircraft under various contracts. It spends over £4.5m every week on its aviation services.  40 people work in the Aviation Branch in diverse roles ranging from project and programme management through to the highly skilled Coastguards that task and coordinate our aircraft from the MCA’s National Maritime Operations Centre.

Damien Oliver, Assistant Director for Aviation said:

“As I look to the future, I’m considering how these new arrangements can evolve into something that drives even greater value for money than that which is provided today.  UKSAR2G is the successor programme to the UK Search and Rescue Helicopter Programme. It will be a game changing cross-Government programme that will draw in the emergency air response requirements of all the blue light emergency services. It will leverage the experience of the MCA’s Aviation Branch as the largest Government operator of aviation outside of the Ministry of Defence to drive a new value for money solution.  UKSAR2G will consider how the latest technologies, such as the use of drones, can further drive value for money under this new programme.
