ITV are taking part in initiative, the Commissioning Development Programme by Creative Diversity Network (CDN). Applications‎ are particularly encouraged from under-represented groups, such as those from BAME (Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic) backgrounds or those with a disability, as defined under the Equality Act 2010.

The programme is a cross-industry diversity initiative, created and supported by the Creative Diversity Network (CDN), Creative Skillset and its key partner members: ITV, BBC, Channel 4, Channel 5 and Sky. It is designed to broaden the diversity of TV commissioning by bringing in new voices and perspectives, and is targeted at experienced media professionals who are enthusiastic and committed to becoming content commissioners.

As well as the contracts with broadcasters, a bespoke training programme is offered, which includes coaching/ mentoring and there will also be opportunities to attend inspiration days learning from the visionaries in other creative and digital industries, networking and mentoring, as well as peer group collaboration and support.

As part of the programme, ITV have just released a new job role: Commissioning Development Executive – Comedy Entertainment, which will run for 12 months.

12 month contract

ITV is the biggest commercial television network in the UK and our Comedy Entertainment programming is home to some of the biggest names on TV. Engaging and entertaining huge primetime audiences around the UK with programmes that are accessible, have broad appeal, warmth, humour and spark conversations.

Here at ITV, we want to continue our success by attracting the largest possible audiences to our channels and content. To do this, we need to reflect and appeal to the breadth of audiences that characterise modern Britain and we’re looking for a Commissioning Development Executive to join our Comedy Entertainment team as part of the CDN Commissioner Programme.

The programme is a cross-industry diversity initiative, designed and supported by the Creative Diversity Network, Creative Skillset and its key partner members; ITV, BBC, Channel 4, Channel 5 and Sky. Applications are particularly encouraged from under-represented groups, such as those from BAME [Black Asian or Minority Ethnic] backgrounds or those with a disability.

During this 12 month programme you’ll be part of a team delivering the editorial strategy and programme mix of ITV’s Comedy Entertainment slate, including programmes such as Birds of a Feather, Take Me Out and Ninja Warrior.

You will gain access to the commissioning process and learn to take responsibility for the creative management and top-level executive production for ITV’s network of channels. Acting as an ambassador for ITV, you’ll develop and maintain relationships with all relevant independent producers, broadcasters and ITV Studios, driving the number of award-winning commissions.

In addition to this, you’ll attend pan-broadcaster workshops, masterclasses and networking events.

As our Commissioning Development Executive, you’ll have a proven record and experience in TV production, or experience at a senior level from within other areas of the creative or digital industries. You’ll be an excellent communicator who can develop and maintain relationships with all relevant producers and other broadcasters.

Clear and proven understanding and knowledge of all compliance and editorial issues in Comedy Entertainment production would be an advantage.
