Disability

Each year, on 3 December, the world comes together to celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities. This day is an opportunity for us to raise awareness, promote inclusion, and recognise the valuable contributions of individuals with disabilities in our workplace and society.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities is not just another date on the calendar. It serves as a reminder of the importance of fostering a work environment that is equitable and accessible to all, regardless of physical or cognitive differences. It is a day when we can reflect on the progress made in the journey toward inclusion and consider the road ahead.

As a testament to our dedication to inclusivity and diversity, we are excited to announce that we have been awarded Level 1 Disability Confident status. This achievement signifies that we are taking concrete steps to create an inclusive environment for individuals with disabilities. It demonstrates our commitment to breaking down barriers and promoting equal opportunities for all employees.

What Does Level 1 Disability Confident Status Mean?

Level 1 Disability Confident status is an endorsement of our commitment to diversity and inclusion. It signifies that we have taken the following steps:

Committed to ensuring our recruitment process is accessible and open to all.

Actively identified and removed barriers that prevent individuals with disabilities from thriving in our workplace.

Supported employees with disabilities, enabling them to reach their full potential.

Promoted a culture of openness and inclusivity.

To celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we encourage all employees to take part in activities that promote awareness and understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities. Here are a few ways you can make a difference:

Engage in open and respectful conversations: Encourage dialogue and create a safe space for employees to share their experiences and insights.

Promote accessibility: Ensure that our workplace is accessible to everyone. Report any barriers that need to be addressed.

Celebrate diversity: Embrace and appreciate the unique perspectives and talents that individuals with disabilities bring to our team.

Educate yourself: Take the time to learn about different types of disabilities and the accommodations that can help make our workplace more inclusive.

Make a pledge: It is impossible to solve the world’s inequalities in a single day, so make a meaningful pledge to celebrate diversity, value accessibility and be an ally for those with disabilities and hidden disabilities.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities is an opportunity for all of us to reflect on our achievements, reaffirm our commitment to inclusion, and consider how we can continue to make a positive impact. Our Level 1 Disability Confident status is a proud symbol of our dedication to promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace. By working together and embracing the principles of inclusivity, we can create a workplace where all employees are valued for their unique abilities and contributions. Let's celebrate this day with the knowledge that we are taking important steps towards a more inclusive and equitable future.
