Haymarket’s Twickenham HQ is now entirely powered by renewable energy

This is the next milestone in the company’s commitment to becoming certified carbon neutral

As of 1 November 2022, Bridge House in Twickenham – Haymarket’s headquarters – became fully powered by purchased renewable energy, moving over from fossil fuels. This follows Haymarket’s Premier House site moving to renewables in 2021.

Transitioning to renewables is the biggest single impact Haymarket can have on the carbon emissions directly created by its site, and outside of the company’s supply chain. Renewable or ‘green’ energy comes from natural resources that can be replenished. Examples are wind energy, solar energy, water power (hydroelectricity) and biomass.

Haymarket is currently benchmarking its energy use as it works to become certified carbon neutral (PAS 2060). This move demonstrates the company’s absolute commitment to becoming the most responsible business it can be, as well as adding to the growing list of initiatives currently underway to become truly sustainable.

The world’s progress toward cleaner energy has been accelerating, as the impact of the climate crisis becomes ever more real.

While we are living through an unprecedented energy crisis in the UK, exposing how dependent on fossil fuels we still are, Europe is at the forefront of the renewable energy expansion. Energy security has emerged as a catalyst to speed up the energy transition and this achievement for Haymarket, led by its UK Procurement and Facilities team, is important in order to meet future environmental targets.
