Leaders in all our UK divisions: Automotive, Haymarket Business Media, Wonderly and Professional Services Group share commitments to L&D

Learning at Work Week

Learning and development is at the core of our culture at Haymarket and it's important to find a way that helps employees know they can dedicate time to their own personal development.

To ensure this, all our UK divisions have announced a joint commitment to carving out time for learning and development, for all employees, on a regular basis.

Busy schedules and lack of time are common reasons for L&D to slip to the bottom of the to-do list, so this new commitment will enable employees to feel more able to make learning part of their regular working routines.

In short, one working day per quarter will be dedicated to learning and how this is executed varies between different divisions.

This commitment is fully supported by the UK Senior Leadership team. As Chief Financial Officer, Brian Freeman outlines: “Learning is key to our development as people and as professionals and Haymarket has put staff development front and centre. We should never stop learning as it's key to be abreast of any changes that are relevant to our industry and our staff. Haymarket has invested in learning opportunities for us all, so it's important that we find time to utilise the resources in our L&D team. We are committed to ensure we all make time to learn.”

Our Technology function has already been allocating time for learning and development after trialling ‘Time out Tuesday’s’ back in August last year, giving employees dedicated time on Tuesday afternoons for trying a new skill or learning something different. The trial was a great success and now colleagues can set aside time in their diaries at a time that suits them, an initiative fully supported by Chief Technology Officer, Richard Harding.

In this video featuring Managing Director of Haymarket Automotive, Rachael Prasher, Deputy Managing Director of HBM, Donna Murphy, and Managing Director of Wonderly, Issie Peate, they explain what this commitment means to them, its benefits and how it will be implemented.
