GSK receive global recognition for their commitment to supporting LGBT+ communities

GSK are really proud to have been recognised by the LGBT+ rights organisation Stonewall as a Top Global Employer in 2022 & 2023, achieving a Gold ranking for their commitment to supporting LGBT+ communities.

2022

Special congratulations go to Jigar Bhadra, who Stonewall named as one of four Global Changemakers of 2022. It’s an incredible achievement to win this award and Jigar has done some remarkable things to advance LGBTQ+ inclusion in our workplace.

GSK has also achieved a Special Recognition Award for our global Power of Allies campaign, which Stonewall described as “a unique and commendable piece of work that makes a tangible impact on the lives of LGBTQ+ people.”

Diverse teams also perform better and achieve exceptional results, which helps us to deliver more effective solutions for our diverse patients. This is great recognition for all our passionate and committed people who work so hard to create an environment that’s fair and equal for everyone. Thanks to our Global LGBT+ Council, our Spectrum ERG and the allies who continue to share their stories, advocate for equality, and challenge stigma and discrimination.

2023

Rafael Marchiori Gonçalves received this recognition for work at his previous employer, GSK Brazil, where he was HR Manager for one of the company's former manufacturing sites, Champion of DEI, and Co-Leader of the Brazil LGBTQ+ employee resource group, Spectrum.

While LGBTQ+ people in Brazil are at an exceptionally high risk of violence, Rafael is a proud and visible role model and his work on LGBTQ+ inclusivity is an inspiration to colleagues in the region. His work has been acknowledged and celebrated for making GSK one of the safest and most rewarding workplaces in Brazil, with LGBTQ+ colleagues declaring that they feel safe inside GSK walls, where the environment allows them to be their authentic selves.

Stonewall is especially proud to celebrate Rafael’s work on trans inclusion initiatives, partnering with TransEmpregos, the largest and most active employability project in Brazil, and the creation of an exclusive vacancy for trans professionals, as well as his strategic implementation of change initiatives to build a more diverse leadership through awareness, education, communication, and leadership.

The Stonewall Global Workplace Equality Index is an important benchmark for multinational organisations aiming for best practice in LGBT workplace equality. Appearing in the Index is a key measure for GSK as we continue to work towards a culture where everyone can feel welcome, valued and included.
