Financial Ombudsman Service volunteers mentor young people at Renaissance Foundation

The East London Business Alliance recently held a drop-in session at Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) as part of its Diversity and Inclusion Week, meeting a number of potential staff volunteers interested in mentoring young people.

The Renaissance Foundation was just about to start its ‘Tudors at the Tower’ programme at the Tower of London and was looking for business people to be mentors. The foundation works with young people who have experienced setbacks in their lives to ensure their education and aspirations aren't adversely affected.

ELBA accompanied the FOS volunteers, introducing them to the Renaissance Foundation and the young people it's working with at its new Youth Innovation Centre in the City of London. Having met the young people, hearing their stories and seeing the impact that the Renaissance Foundation has had on their lives, 10 volunteers from the FOS have already started mentoring.

Sat Singh, Director of the Renaissance Foundation said: “The volunteers from Financial Ombudsman Service have been a very motivated group with a great ability to connect and make a direct impact, encouraging the young people to think about careers in places like Canary Wharf.”
