'Eversheds Aspire' new apprentice scheme launched by Eversheds

Law firm Eversheds has launched Eversheds Aspire - a new apprentice scheme for talented individuals wishing to develop a professional legal or business services career. Eversheds Aspire is a key component in the firm’s response to the clear market need to attract, develop and retain new talent.

Our aim is to make Eversheds Aspire the market leading apprentice scheme for young people wanting the opportunity to develop a professional career within a renowned international law firm.

“Our focus is on getting apprentices ‘business’ ready over the period of their apprenticeship for a future successful career with the firm. We want them to be our managers and partners of the future.”

Starting this October, the initial launch programme will comprise 16 apprentices, leaving school after A-Levels. We are looking for legal and non-legal apprentices, with opportunities available in the firm’s Cardiff, Leeds and London offices. The apprentices will work in either the Real Estate Practice Group or Global Operations team.

All successful applicants will be offered a permanent role and a two year apprenticeship. Each apprentice will experience a number of different aspects of the business, and will have the opportunity to undertake client secondments and international projects, reflecting the global nature of the firm’s business today.

Training and development will combine practical, commercial based training including client management, technical skills and new business thinking, with appropriate professional development throughout the two year apprenticeship period.

Professional development programmes will be run in conjunction with the firm’s education provider BPP. Legal apprentices will study a Level 3 QCF Diploma in Business and Administration and also undertake legal training modules. Global Operations apprentices will study a relevant qualification to the team they are joining.

For Eversheds Aspire legal apprentices, this may well be the start of their career as lawyers with Eversheds. We anticipate that many of them may want to continue their professional studies beyond the Level 3 scheme and acquire the qualifications needed to become a solicitor through an SRA recognised apprenticeship scheme. Each apprentice will have a dedicated senior mentor throughout the programme and will be offered an above standard apprentice salary, with the opportunity for progression. Eversheds Aspire is a key component of the firm’s career development offering to broaden entry routes into a professional role and encourage greater diversity in the profession. Working alongside other initiatives such as the Combined Study Training Contract, Eversheds Unlocked and the Unlocked Academy, Eversheds Aspire will provide a further potential channel to a successful long-term work future.
