Alternative Pathways: Apprenticeships at Coca-Cola Europacific Partners

Sheona’s always wanted to achieve at the highest level, but she was never interested in the university route, because she didn’t think she should focus on only one subject. Having worked part-time in retail since she was 16, she just knew she had to work with customers. Now, only a few years later, she’s a qualified professional with several years’ experience in her field at Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP).

Question: What made you decide that you wanted to pursue an apprenticeship scheme?

“The apprenticeship scheme allowed me to work as well as study, which was an amazing opportunity for me. It meant I could work with customers in a field sales representative role, as well as study for my Sales Executive Level 4 qualification. I also worried about the debt that university would cause me, but this apprenticeship did the opposite – it enabled me to be more independent and make my own money.”

Question: What was the application process like for CCEP’s programme?

“The application process was straightforward. I applied for the apprenticeship programme via the CCEP careers website. Then I had a telephone interview, where I answered a few questions about myself. The final stage was a face-to-face group interview, split into three sections. The first was a written task, the second was a face-to-face interview with a member of staff at CCEP, and the final stage was a group presentation. I then got a call to say I was successful.” 

Question: When did you join the programme and how has your experience been?

“I joined the programme in September 2019 and I had a great time. I got to experience first-hand what a work-life balance is really like. It took me a few weeks to adjust to everything, but once I found my feet, it all fell into place. Plus, I got to work alongside a truly supportive team, who really helped take some of the pressure off.”

Question: What is your favourite part of working at CCEP?

“The limitless opportunities that are available. There are multiple channels within the business that can be explored. My advice to anyone thinking of applying would be to ensure they find the best apprenticeship for them, but to then push themselves out of their comfort zone. You are your own biggest competition. So be confident and believe in yourself.”
