The session proved particularly popular with attendees, including Gareth Llewellyn and the board of directors as well as staff from the Axis and Bristol.
It was a very informal event enabling the embRACE group to educate and inform everyone about our objectives and rally support through recruiting associate members and allies.
Core members Peta Shillingford and Ammal Jama provided some background to the history of this important day and celebrated the achievements of the group to date.
The buzz in the room was apparent the minute you walked in – there was meaningful chatter and questions as well as a taste of Asian food and application of henna. The smell of the samosas, kebabs, pakoras and spring rolls drifted across the fourth floor inviting everyone to pop in. Everybody went away with a full belly and an understanding of what embRACE is all about.
The chair of the group for the last two years, Nadeem Aziz, handed the baton over to me and I feel privileged to lead the group into 2017 as we support DVSA’s 5-year strategy. Gareth reinforced the agency’s commitment to continue supporting the staff network groups and stressed the importance of the work we do.
