International Day of Persons with Disabilities at GSK

Disability

Disability can impact anybody and one in seven of us lives with some form of disability or long-term health condition. That’s why, on International Day of Persons with Disabilities, I'm sharing how embracing diversity can positively impact the health of people with disabilities.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities

I’m so proud of the work we do at GSK to design accessible products that positively impact the health of 2.5 billion people. Listening to patients and colleagues is key to helping us create an environment at GSK where people can be themselves and feel welcome, valued and included. Our people are at the heart of our success, and we’re committed to making GSK a place where everyone is supported to thrive.

Their stories inspire me and reinforce my belief that diversity, equity and inclusion is critical to us achieving our purpose. It helps us to perform better as it brings better insights, better quality decision-making, more sustained solutions driven by difference and crucially, helps us understand our diverse colleagues and patients even more.

What health and wellbeing support works for people is personal. That’s why at GSK we offer programmes to help people monitor and manage their mental, physical, social and financial wellbeing in the ways that work for them. In addition to our Employee Assistance Programme, we provide the workspaces, work tools, reasonable accommodations and adjustments necessary, to ensure that all GSK people, regardless of health and disability, are supported to perform at their best.

GSK is committed to being inclusive for people with disabilities. With support from our Global Disability Council and our employee resource group, the Disability Confidence Network, we are working hard to create an inclusive workplace where all our people can thrive. Since 2020, GSK has been an active member of the Valuable 500 pledge, a collection of 500 global companies all committed to placing disability inclusion on the leadership agenda. We are delivering on its objectives through our disability confidence plan.

Today on International Day of Persons with Disabilities, I’m challenging myself and everyone at GSK to continue to listen and learn to do more to be inclusive to support our people here and the patients around the world who depend on us.
