Please tell us a little about you and your role within the CQC
I’m Andrea, I live in Manchester and I’ve worked for the commission for around 8 years. I work as a mental health inspector. I took on a caring role for my sister at the same time as starting work here, so the two roles feel very linked!
What do they enjoy the most about their role / working at CQC?
I am passionate about improving care for services users and carers. I love the flexibility of working for the commission, and that no two days are the same. I have worked improving local services and have also contributed to national publications and guidance.
What did you do before joining CQC?
I have previously worked as a mental health nurse, working in hospitals and community settings.
What network are you part of?
I am one of the three co-chairs of the Carers Equality Network. I joined the Network in 2016 and became a chair in 2020.
Why do you enjoy being part of this Network at CQC?
I enjoy ensuring the voice of carers across the organisation is heard, particularly in relation to plans for change. It is really rewarding supporting carers on an individual level and as part of the Equality Network group.
Home working is common at the CQC, with all management within the organisation being flexible and working with staff with caring needs.
