TransPennine Express receives Silver Award under the Defence Employer Recognition scheme

On Tuesday evening TPE were honoured to join the Reserve Forces and Cadets Association for the presentation of our Silver Award under the Defence Employer Recognition scheme in a ceremony at Manchester Monastery.

TransPennine Express joined 16 other businesses from across the North West and the Isle of Man who received their awards that evening, and it was humbling to hear the host of ways in which each of these organisations are supporting the defence community. The awards were presented by Mrs Diane Hawkins JP LLB, the Lord-Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, accompanied by colleagues from the Armed Forces.

The Armed Forces Covenant and Defence Employer Recognition Scheme are a wonderful way of bringing to the forefront the ways in which business can support reservists, veterans, military partners, and cadet volunteers. We were inspired by what we heard at the event and while we’re incredibly proud to be given this honour, we’ve been reinvigorated to look at what more we can do in this area, not only to support our current colleagues, but also to encourage those looking at rail as a potential future opportunity, or those considering serving our nation as a reservist.
