Building a career at Netcompany

When Megi graduated university, she had spent a year online and had missed out on a lot of learning, but also socialising and relationship building. Megi is throwing herself into the Netcompany experience and After Darks, as well as being a part of delivering essential public sector projects which contribute to our wider society.

 

 

Rebuilding networks since the pandemic

It’s been three months since I started my career at Netcompany, and I am still excited to go to work every day (less so on the cold days). Joining Netcompany not only helped me to grow my experience within the industry, but also allowed me to be a part of the social activities and to build friendships in the office, which is something I missed out on at university.

 

A challenging but exciting interview process

I chose Netcompany for two main reasons. I looked at what their employees were like and how they spoke fondly of the company. 
Netcompany is one of a few IT companies that don’t limit you by your role title, meaning I am able to explore all the possible career opportunities within the IT world. As a bonus, I don’t have an excuse to be bored with what I do. 
The second reason is that Netcompany had by far the most enjoyable and challenging interview process for me as a graduate.

 

 

 

“Everything is a learning process”

Try to get involved with anything that interests you, even if you’re a bit shy or nervous. Try to talk to as many people as possible, and you’ll make lots of new friends. It may even help you with your projects! Don’t be scared to ask questions, even if you think they are silly. You might get moments of panic where you think to yourself “Am I good enough for this?”, but remember that everything is a learning process and that it’s ok to ask for help and guidance.

 

Joining Netcompany not only helped me to grow my experience within the industry, but also allowed me to be a part of the social activities and to build friendships in the office, which is something I missed out on at university.

 

Making a societal impact through projects

Netcompany focuses on getting people to network and collaborate, which I believe is unique. This is a massive strength, and you can only fully understand the extent of this having joined Netcompany yourself. Everyone is keen to get others involved, be it on the job or at social events.

The frequent socials allow you to make better friends at work, which makes every workday more enjoyable. This, plus free Wednesday lunch, means I go into the office as well as working remotely. 
People genuinely have a passion for what they are working on here, be it that they enjoy the role or that they feel like they are making a societal impact through the projects they’re working on. I know I get personal gratification in that I’m making a small, positive change to people’s lives whilst working with our public sector clients. Being able to work on projects that help my friends, family and community is a big part of what drives me.
