World Autism Awareness Day 2025: Acceptance at Work and Beyond at Bromford
Category: Neurodiversity
For World Autism Awareness Day 2025 (Wednesday, April 2), The National Autistic Society is focusing on the theme of Acceptance at Work. They are highlighting the importance of inclusive workplaces, not just for autistic individuals, but for everyone.

This year, we've broadened the scope of our Disabilities and Carers group to include Neurodiversity, ensuring we listen to and amplify the diverse voices of colleagues to guide us in shaping our future roadmap. This group has been instrumental in developing our ‘roadmap to accessibility and inclusivity,’ and we’re excited to have partnered with Wecil to complete access audits across all of our primary offices.
In line with our commitment to inclusion, all of our leaders will be undertaking refreshed recruitment and selection training. This training will include specific modules on unconscious bias, as well as equality and diversity. By enhancing our leaders’ understanding of these critical areas, we aim to ensure that we are fostering an environment where diversity is celebrated, and all candidates are given a fair opportunity. We’re also focused on supporting candidates and colleagues by making reasonable adjustments to ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed. Whether it’s during the recruitment process or in the workplace, we are committed to providing the necessary accommodations to enable all colleagues to perform at their best.
Work has already begun on implementing our accessibility and inclusivity plan. Our workspace team is dedicated to ensuring that all workspaces are fully accessible, which has included refreshing all of our wellbeing rooms. Additionally, our learning and development team is starting to review and adapt all training materials with accessibility in mind, recognising that one size does not fit all, and our colleagues have also been involved in designing new Neurodiversity training, which will be rolled out soon.
This is just the beginning of our ongoing commitment to creating a workplace where everyone can thrive. We are excited to continue collaborating with our colleague champion groups to innovate and enhance the way we work and support all of our colleagues.
