3 things you didn’t know about working at Cambridge Assessment

Category: Home & Flexible Working

Working for a not-for-profit organisation can be very different from working in the for-profit sector. With more and more candidates looking for jobs that make a difference, not-for-profits offer an exciting alternative to the mainstream.

Cambridge Assessment is proud to recruit people who want to work towards a higher goal. Being passionate about what you do can lead to more opportunities within the organisation. In fact, over 35% of roles are offered to internal candidates. The organisation also undertakes the following initiatives to ensure inclusions and diversity in the workplace.

  1. Inclusive Recruitment Strategy - Cambridge Assessment is adapting and evolving its recruitment strategy to respond to the modern world of work. The strategy is designed to appeal to candidates from all walks of life and to value everyone as an individual. This is so that all candidates feel able to apply for roles and achieve their potential. Recruiters are required to undertake an unconscious bias e-learning module as part of an extensive recruitment training campaign. The module also supports the organisation’s five-star recruitment promise to applicants.
  2. Disability Initiatives - According to Scope, 19% of working age adults are disabled. Cambridge Assessment is proud to support employees with permanent or temporary disabilities, or other forms of ill-health or musculoskeletal disorders. The organisation purchases specialist software such as Dragon Naturally Speaking for those who are visually impaired or can’t type. There’s a range of ergonomic equipment available, including mice and keyboards and sit-stand desks. Personal emergency evacuation plans are drawn up for those who need it as well as regular individual risk assessments.
  3. Women in Leadership - Since starting in December 2016, Women in Leadership has worked to address the gender differences that are still perceived today. It’s open to anyone, both men and women, interested in supporting women to pursue their ambitions and achieve their goals. The network raises awareness of issues, gathers data and analysis, and flags up training and development opportunities. It also works to promote female role models and feed into the wider diversity and inclusion initiative.
