Hachette UK offers incredible scope for continual career development and opportunities.  This includes training on soft skills, skills to help with editorial roles, learning more about important topics, such as racism and disability awareness, or leadership programmes to create brilliant managers. There’s something to help everyone achieve their career goals.  Every month we send a bulletin highlighting forthcoming workshops, events and Author Talks.

Culturally, we also believe in sharing knowledge and the powerful impact of mentoring.  It’s therefore no surprise that we have many mentoring programmes to choose from including one for new parents returning to work.

In addition to our main mentoring scheme, we offer colleagues from backgrounds that are underrepresented in our industry the chance to be mentored by a member of our Board. Since 2017, we have matched 77 employees with Board-level mentors.

Diverse Future Leaders Mentoring

• Internal scheme that gives under-represented groups access to HUK Board member to help accelerate their development, gaining access to and career support – welcoming applicants from Black and Minority Ethnic communities, age, disability, race, gender, sexuality, religion and socio-economic background.
•  Scheme is an ongoing demonstration of senior leader commitment as the scheme has been running for 6 years.
•  To date, 77 employees have been paired with Board-level mentors – and feedback evaluation shows increased confidence and business understanding.
