The role of a Technology Manager Development and Support is to provide leadership and accountability for build, test, and maintenance activities to allow for agile deployment and support of a mixture of SaaS, integration points and development. Combining aspects of technical support, IT operations and service management, ensuring ongoing maintenance, and developed service improvements to our core applications and products. Using experience and knowledge to take the lead and guide others into the diagnosis and resolution of incidents, problems and in the development of technical solutions to satisfy business requirements.

Key Accountabilities
  • Responsible for Run & Change of SSE's on premise ERP platform, servicing HR / Finance / Procurement & Logistics on a 24*7 basis.
  • Accountable for the technology platform that processes £3 - 4 Billion of supplier payments annually
  • Accountable for servicing circa 13000 employee monthly salary payments, in Sterling and Euro denominated payrolls
  • Work with immediate team and other managers to ensure compliance with SLAs, targets, company goals and regulatory demands (including, but not limited to: WMS; Problem, Incident, Request and Change; Customer Service and DR).
  • Take accountability for the completion of tasks required for the effective management of red alert, incident and problem management processes.
  • Provide out of hours support as required and agreed with the Head of IT Delivery.

What Do I Need?
  • Must have significant experience of operating an Oracle E-Business platform for an FTSE business
  • A technically strong leader, who can evidence agile ways of working
  • Significant knowledge and experience of Oracle on premise and cloud products
  • Extensive experience dealing with both internal and external audit functions
  • Proven ability to manage large teams (50+) of both permanent and contingent resources

Business Knowledge
  • Experience from a similar senior Technology Management role in supporting business critical systems in a medium/large organisation.
  • Proven experience in applying DevOps principles and collaborating within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver tangible business outcomes.
  • Understanding/experience of a Corporate function in an FTSE company is desirable

Essential Functional / Technical Skills
  • Strong functional and business awareness to become an effective technical support to other members of the team.
  • Strong leadership of teams that include permanent resources, third parties and contractors.
  • Experience in working in an Agile working environment is desirable.
  • Experience of managing full Application lifecycle management
  • Transform technical requirements into an effective DevOps toolchain to enable product delivery
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to more junior colleagues
  • Extensive technical knowledge, providing support to delivery teams and solving complex problems
  • Deep understanding of ITIL or similar IT Service Management methodology
  • Experience in supporting automation and orchestration capabilities and tools.
  • Solid understanding of databases and data storage technologies such as SQL, Oracle and Cloud based data platforms
