We are currently looking for a Technical Solutions Architect to join our unstoppable tech team. As an Architect, you will play a crucial role in providing technical guidance and support with technical input and technical design toward strategic goals.

Overall, the Solutions Architect is not just a technical expert but a strategic enabler, contributing significantly to the company's mission of making buying and selling safer, simpler, and more enjoyable.

Reports to: CTO / Director of Technology, Gumtree

The role in a nutshell:

• You'll be providing technical guidance and support to ~60 staff across 6 teams.
• You'll be supporting the leadership and business with technical input and technical design toward strategic goals.
• You'll help set the technical direction, target architecture, define technologies to use and explain how they fit into the greater plan.
• You'll participate in role - /team- /department-wide conversations and presentations to share knowledge and technical details.
• Be a technical leader across all teams, providing support with technical designs, preparation and planning and when needed be hands-on, pairing with engineers when it makes sense.
• Bring about change through influence, coaching, mentoring and presenting to influence change and change by influence.

About you:

• You're proficient in the following technologies: Java 11-17, GCP (preferred, but alternatively AWS, Azure), Kafka, PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, microservices, event-driven architecture, BFF.
• You have a good understanding and knowledge of frontend technologies (ReactJS, NodeJS, Typescript, JavaScript) and how they fit into the greater ecosystem.
• You're proficient in how platform and infrastructure fit together, the flows of communication and the importance of various parts of the platform and architecture.
• You're proficient in managed cloud service providers, cloud native applications and cloud-based services.
• You seek opportunities and are comfortable taking managed risks.
• You're future-oriented, creative and innovative.
• You're flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances and direction.
• You're pro-active, seek to find direction and think critically to find solutions.
• You understand the importance of communication and collaboration and incorporate it in your role as an architect.
