This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking market leader in railway Overhead Line Electrification (OLE). The Rail Innovation and Technology team in Derby work at the cutting edge of railway testing, data analysis implementation and design implementation. As a member of this team, you will be involved with rail data processing algorithms, finite element analysis and process automation. The successful candidate will also work closely with the Basic design team for design and verification of a number of OLE system components, from structures and foundations to conductors and wiring.
The Rail Innovation and Technology team is a leader in the development of state-of-the-art data analysis and dynamic performance monitoring tools for the rail industry. You will be part of a multi discipline team responsible for delivering complex engineering projects through rigorous technical analysis involving the following activities:
Undertake high frequency data set analysis and reporting Carry out implicit/explicit finite element finite element analysis Provide guidance and development to engineers on data analysis and finite element modelling
In addition to a strong engineering and finite element background, it would be advantageous if you could also demonstrate experience in one or more of the following: Implicit/explicit finite element analysis packages such as Abaqus Mechanical testing analysis and data implementation Software modelling skills using relevant programming languages such as MATLAB, Fortran, VBA etc. Problem solving, improving and tuning algorithms Experience in the use of and understanding of the basis and limitations of codes and standards Undertake loading calculations for a range of different OLE structures, in accordance with Network Rail standards.
