Jacobs are recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Designer to Join our Engineering Development team. Engineering Development has recently won a number of several important projects and has a host of exciting new opportunities in nuclear fusion, new reactor development, nuclear decommissioning, operational reactor maintenance and support
CMS-I are looking to deliver a variety of exciting bids and projects within our Nuclear business. The ideal candidate is someone with a good broad ranging mechanical background who is used to taking the lead and has a demonstrable track record of contributing to mechanical projects effectively within a highly regulated environment. We are looking for candidates who can encourage and develop others in their team whilst accustomed to taking a hands-on approach.
Provide design drawings at all levels from concept through to Design for Manufacture in support of projects within the section and from time to time in support of other projects within the wider Wood Nuclear business.
Ensuring design deliverables meet required standards of accuracy and quality, that all drawings are appropriately verified and performing verification of colleagues' drawings
Working as part of a team with multi-disciplinary engineers and scientists - mechanical, electrical/C&I etc.
Supporting other related activities across the Nuclear business including liaising with project management and directly with customers.
Transmit documents to the Workshop Manager and to client's, as required.
Control and manage all drawn documents using the Autodesk Vault application.
Meets the financial targets agreed through the management chain in a controlled and visible manner.Required:
HNC/HND in a relevant engineering subject and/ or demonstrable design experience
Computer literate, including competent in the use of Excel for calculations
Knowledge of the principles of engineering drawing to support manufacturing requirements
Experience in designing mechanical components and systems
Knowledge of electro-mechanical systems, remote operations in a nuclear environment or mechanical handling preferred
Experienced in AutoDesk Vault, AutoCAD and AutoDesk Inventor 2D/3D design software
Experienced in CATIA design package preferred
Ability to work accurately, flexibly and to integrate own work with other discipline areas, whilst working to tight programme and budget constraints
Experience of small batch production and manufacturing methods
Self-starter with a professional approach and a technical background and industry experience
Familiarity of Defence / Nuclear sector would be advantageous
