About Jacobs Nuclear & PPP: Jacobs Nuclear is the Design and Engineering partner for Sellafield under the PPP (Programme and Project Partners). This is 20-year arrangement to deliver ~£7bn of major projects. We are identifying our best people to deliver this programme. Sellafield are looking to adopt high value experience from across comparable highly complex regulated sectors and want to transform project delivery across its estate. Working in a fully collaborative environment, there are three core parts of the PPP scope: delivery of major projects, site-wide project delivery improvements and provision of supporting PPP services.
Jacobs Nuclear provide the front-end design and engineering capability and services required to deliver major projects and site wide project delivery improvements. The programme will deliver innovation in solutions and schedule underpinning the decommissioning plan for the site. As a result of increasing demand for our services, there are significant opportunities for you, as a Senior EC&I Engineer to support a key project within the nuclear business. We have a requirement for 3 x EC&I Engineers to work between Sellafield and our office in Warrington.
Must be capable of working without direct supervision and have the ability to translate a client requirement into a meaningful engineering solution.
Good communication and negotiation skills are essential and the aptitude to drive a team of engineers is crucial.
Engineering design experience is fundamental and nuclear experience is preferable but not essential.
Contribute to the delivery of a range of project types from small asset care tasks to major projects and potentially manage subcontractors.
Responsibilities will include:
Responsible for the Engineering Quality of the project delivery, ensuring compliance with client specifications and engineering standards. The role works alongside the Engineering Manager to ensure scope changes, time and cost constraints are managed.
Responsible, in co-operation with Client Project Engineers, for the technical quality of all conceptual designs, design schemes and detail drawings and associated design documentation.
Maintains compliance with Engineering Standards and applicable legislation
To participate in Design Reviews and, where appropriate, organise such reviews. Ensure that subsequent design meets the projects' requirements
Ensuring the confidentiality and security of data and information received from clients
Ensuring the requirements of the Health & Safety of Work act, CDM, Machineries Directive, and the COSHH regulations are understood and complied with
Liaise with the Engineering Manager to ensure effective project delivery to time and cost.
Promote a strong working relationship
Maintain an overview of their project and provide some direction on project process, communications and consistency of approach
Significant experience of working within a highly regulated industry, some of which must have been gained within the nuclear industry.
Degree Qualified or relevant experience to an equivalent level.
Working towards chartered status
Must have sound knowledge of electrical systems, control systems and process instrumentation.
Ability to communicate effectively with team members.
Knowledge of AVEVA Instrumentation and AVEVA Electrical shall be advantageous.
