Engineering input to the project, specifically to look in depth at the schedule from an engineering perspective and to challenge the scope, assumptions and detail of the design, build and installation timescales.
Ensure the scope of works aligns to the Statement of Technical Requirements and meets the demands of the customer requirements (User Requirements Document (URD)) and aligns to the requirements for an Astute Class submarine.
Provide technical oversight on behalf of the MOD client of progression on the key workfaces and support the Project Manager in monitoring progress.
Support assessment of the Earned Value Management (EVM) data submissions and provide the Project Manager with requisite technical reports against the EVM position, include recovery options.
Provide Technical input to the ongoing management of the Risk Log and assessments of progress against mitigation actions by the contractor.
Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) view on the integration of the submarine requirements and Pressure Water Reactor 2 (PWR2) Safety Case with the Facility Safety Case.
Monitoring of progression of the Facility Safety Case towards Office of Nuclear Regulation (ONR) approval.
Act as the project interface with Nuclear Propulsion (NP) project team in generation of the nuclear safety case.
Support generation of all internal governance documentation, including (as required) Final Business Case updates, Review Notes and Assurance documentation.Essential:

Deep understanding of MoD Knowledge in Defence (KiD) and Approvals (JSP655) processes
Significant experience of operation of and delivery of Marine Infrastructure Projects - Major civils/structures, Docks, Berths, Buildings, Cranes, Services
Experienced senior professional Project Manager with significant experience of working at a senior level embedded within a MOD procurement organisation
Experience of coordinating project managers, engineers and client team in the development of estimates and in schedule and cost modelling to support project approvals
Deep understanding of Submarine design and operations, including a detailed understanding of the design and operations of the Nuclear Steam Raising Plant (NSRP)
Proven experience in generating all documentation and stakeholder engagement necessary in support of achieving an approved defence nuclear safety case
Proven ability to provide good clear technical documents and briefs to senior levels
Proven ability to operate discretely in commercially sensitive environments
Sole British National with current SC clearance (client mandatory requirement)
Experience in MOD Project Controls and Project Management techniques and processes
Pre and post contract NEC experience
Some understanding of UK Nuclear Regulatory framework and its impact on cost norms, productivity factors.
Ability to work in a collaborative manner whilst remaining robust in a challenging commercial environment.
Some knowledge of the submarine enterprise, and experience operating withing the main site locations.
