About this vacancy

Two full-time Administrative Assistants are sought for Occupational Health Services who provide a service to the staff of Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust as well as other external clients and organisations. The role of the postholder is to provide administrative support to the OH Team, including:

Typing and proof-reading letters (Word)
  • Data entry (Excel spreadsheets)
  • Pulling notes for clinics
  • Reception cover
  • Filing
  • Preparing files

  • This list is not exhaustive and further admin tasks as required are also included.

    A good knowledge and experience of using Microsoft Outlook and Word is essential, together with some experience of working with Excel spreadsheets. You should also have a good level of literacy and numerical skills. Desirable skills include experience in a front of house (reception) role and\/or a client or customer facing role.

    Occupational Health is based in light and airy premises on the St Mary's site, which is a short walk from the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

    The postholder will be educated to GCSE level or equivalent in English and Maths and possess keyboard skills to RSA Level 2 or NVQ level 2 in Administration, or be able to demonstrate equivalent through experience gained.

    Core hours for these posts are 8.30am to 4.30pm and 9.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday.

    Salaries for substantive posts will be offered to successful candidates in alignment with the NHS Agenda for Change terms and conditions. All our substantive colleagues will also receive an annual appraisal. For substantive colleagues appointed after 1 April 2019, this guides their progression through the salary steps. Please note this does not apply to Bank only applicants.

    As part of our commitment to a safe working environment, we undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check on all new employees where the role is eligible for a criminal record check . We make offers in line with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1975.

    We may also use our substantive adverts to build our Bank staff. If you are unsuccessful at interview for a substantive role but meet the BSUH specification for that role you may be offered a bank post. Please note our Bank hourly rates are outlined on a separate payscale.
