As a Lawyer in the British Business Bank (BBB), you will have responsibility for all commercial legal aspects of the Bank's operations, from operational infrastructure to product support and marketing. You will support the Marketing and Communications department with brand protection issues such as trademark registration and the misuse of the Bank's intellectual property. You will also represent the legal team at Working Groups and Steering Groups and support the Procurement team as matters are escalated, including advising on the risk of procurement challenges. You will research and advise on specific points of law surrounding contractual arrangements entered into by the Bank, its Delivery Partners or other third-party suppliers.
Reporting to the Head of Corporate, Legal, you will join a team of lawyers that also support the Company Secretariat on all corporate and company law matters relating to the Bank's organisation (share issues, loan capitalisations, annual reports). You will review and draft NDAs, help with risk analysis by horizon scanning for potential legal challenge and changes to regulation, and you will coordinate the Bank's response to litigation in accordance with the Bank's values and objectives.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a lawyer with a minimum of 4 years PQE. You will have inhouse or private practice experience managing commercial transactions and procurements and you will have good knowledge of the areas of law relating to the public sector. It would be an advantage if you have previous experience managing external counsel and experience managing legal challenge and stakeholder/supplier complaints. Although not essential, it would also be desirable for you to have experience working in the legal department of a central government department.
You will have integrity in your work and embody our corporate values. You will enable team members and be confident and collaborative in your work with key stakeholders. We are looking for a colleague who is capable of prioritising competing demands and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. You will inspire confidence and encourage diversity of thought.
