What you'll be doing;
  • Perform and document maintenance, calibration, installation, fault diagnosis, and repair of control systems including extensive DCS systems.
  • Work with a wide variety of instruments including pH, conductivity, ultrasonic, level, flow, pressure transmitters, proximity sensors, thermocouples, RTDs, etc.
  • Maintain files, logs and drawings for all control, instrumentation and electrical equipment using the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Understand piping and instrument Diagrams (P&ID's), signal loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, panel drawings, etc.
  • To propose and develop modifications and improvements to plant /apparatus as appropriate.
  • Liaise with and oversee suppliers/contractors carrying out EC&I tasks/projects to ensure compliance with company procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with the company's Quality and Environmental Management System and Health and Safety Policies - ISO EN9001,EN14001,EN18001.
  • Assist the maintenance/operation team to achieve collective objectives and goals.
  • On the job training of Apprentices where appropriate/applicable.
  • Ensure good housekeeping at all times, maintain the workshop and other work areas in a clean, tidy and safe condition.
  • Complete other tasks/duties within the scope and spirit of the job as instructed by management.
  • Perform all duties in a manner consistent with environmental, health and safety and company policies.
What we're looking for;
  • A time served Engineer with an Electrical, Control and Instrumentation background.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience gained in a continuous process or heavy industry is essential.
  • Qualified to HNC or equivalent/higher in a relevant Engineering discipline but must have knowledge of EC&I.
  • NVQ Level 3 equivalent or higher practical qualification in electrical, controls or instrumentation maintenance.
  • BS7671 18th edition IET wiring regulations qualification.
  • Good working knowledge of maintenance and fault finding techniques associated with control systems, pneumatic and hydraulic transducers and instrumentation.
  • Computer literacy skills are essential, working with CMMS and databases
  • Ability to work autonomously and without supervision.
  • Experience of calibrating instruments using a Beamex or similar multifunction calibrator.
  • Working in WTE/ ERF plant would be beneficial
