Corporate and Social Responsibility at Nationwide

Corporate Responsibility is owned by all of our employees and delivered through every day actions from how we deal with one another to the products and services delivered to our members.

As part of our commitment to being a responsible business, we dedicate at least 1% of our pre-tax profits to our Corporate Responsibility activities.

Giving back

We launched NationwideEducation.co.uk, to provide interactive and education tools to help children develop important life skills and increase their knowledge about money and personal finance. Activities on the website are aimed at different age groups from 4 to 18 years and include curriculum-linked activities and extensive support material for teachers and parents.

We supported Citizens Advice by committing £3 million to help develop MoneyActive, a project all about providing preventative education to people who want or need financial help. The funding was used to recruit and train 1,300 volunteers to provide the financial advice and assistance to those who need it.

Charity

We work with a number of charity partners such as Woodland Trust, Shelter and Disability Sport Events and through our staff and members we support many local communities.

In addition to these, our charity of choice is Macmillan Cancer Support. With so many people touched by cancer in one way or another, we want to help those people affected by contributing towards providing essential information services, emotional support and expert medical care. A cancer diagnosis can also bring significant financial issues and concerns to families and individuals, so as a financial service provider we are also able to use our expertise to support the charity, as well as by providing financial contributions.

Volunteering

We give every member of staff 2 paid days per year to encourage staff to get involved and make a difference. Employees across the country offer their skills and expertise to charities and community groups.
