From the 12th – 18th June, the world is celebrating Men’s Health Week with this year’s focus being on beating the belly fat.
Belly fat is a problem because it not only shows on the surface, but also surrounds the body’s vital organs causing serious health conditions. Whether you are overweight or not, a large amount of belly fat increases the risk of:
So, this year, Men’s Health Week is encouraging men to get the tape measure out and take action against belly fat. If you have a waist measurement of over 37 inches (97cm), then you are at increased risk of developing diabetes, heart disease, cancer, stroke and erection problems. At over 40 inches (102cm), your risk of developing these conditions increases dramatically. So, get that tape out and measure around your belly button for waist size.
The Men’s Health Forum advise you to “Move more, eat well, watch the booze” to combat belly fat. Do you have a hazardous waist? Take action now and share your support by downloading posters, logos, icons and cartoons for free from the Men’s Health Forum website.
