Welcome to VERCIDA website.
Skip to main contentThanks to a landmark £175 million gift from businessman and philanthropist Stephan A. Schwarzman, the Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities at the University of Oxford will bring together the university’s Humanities faculties under one roof for the first time, alongside the Ethics in AI Institute, the Oxford Internet Institute, and a major Humanities library. At the heart of the building will be a suite of performing arts venues and public spaces, including a 500-seat concert hall, a 250-seat theatre, a black-box experimental performance lab, a rehearsal hall (which can be used for dance), a cinema with 35mm projection facilities, and an exhibition hall and café. The activities that will animate these spaces will comprise an ambitious and wide-ranging Cultural Programme, bringing new audiences and world-class artists together to engage creatively with Oxford researchers.
