Royal College of Midwives

The Royal College of Midwives (RCM) is the leading professional organisation and trade union for midwifery. Our purpose is to make a difference in the lives of midwives and maternity support workers to help them deliver great care. With members ranging from student through to retirement, we are committed to delivering a valuable, supportive, and meaningful membership experience.

The RCM recognizes that systemic inequalities exist in maternity services. And these inequalities not only impact on the care women receive but also on the working lives of our members.  There are unacceptable variations in access, experience and outcomes for women using maternity services and midwives and maternity support workers face challenges and obstacles in their careers related to inequalities.

As a professional organisation and trade union we are committed to playing our part in addressing these systemic inequalities. This commitment includes how we represent, support and influence for our members, and is reflected in our Race Matters Initiative.

Representing the interests of midwives across the UK individually and collectively, we strive to promote excellence, innovation and leadership in the care of childbearing women, newborns and their families, nationally and internationally.

We want to be an exemplary employer in everything we do, and we are always excited to welcome new people to our team who share our vision and values.
