Women in IT Excellence Awards 2018

The answer to many of UK plc's problems is staring us in the face. At a time when we need more talented leaders, more ideas and innovation, and stronger economic growth, the fact that 50 per cent of our talent is routinely overlooked now borders on the criminal.

The IT industry has, along with several others, long been guilty of doing too little to address its chronic gender imbalance. Today, fewer than 20 per cent of IT roles are filled by women. Schools and universities report little or no growth in the numbers of females taking STEM subjects. More needs to be done to encourage the female IT leaders of tomorrow.

Fortunately, there is something you can do to effect change. We created the Women in Technology Excellence Awards to celebrate and promote the fantastic female talent we have in the industry. Enter yourselves, your colleagues, teams and organisations so we can show the world that there are places in IT for talented females, and that this industry can lead to rewarding, fulfilling careers for everyone.

Now in its third year, these awards have already celebrated the achievements of over 500 women, in front of over 1,000 people. And we don't just shout about this success at the awards themselves, we also publish videos, galleries and articles from the event on Computing, to ensure that hundreds of thousands of people can see for themselves the talent that's out there.
