Social media - Is it making us a faceless society?

Having written about how much social media has advanced over the years and the benefits of it, I was then thinking "has it become so much part of our lives, that the only way we know how to communicate is through social media?"

I also said that even paying for a parking ticket is done by social network and sometimes not succesfully, as technology sometimes lets us down.

People so much of their time at work sending emails to colleagues, using Twitter and other means on the social network, that it becomes habit and we take that way of communicating home with us.

Let's face it after a long day at work possibly the last thing some people want to do is to make conversation, so the easiest way to do that is go on to the social network and communicate that way, as not much is asked of ourselves in communicating that way.

There are pressures every day to communicate in this way as it makes greater productivity, but then this way of communication is brought home and we continue to talk to friends through various networks, without, possibly picking up the phone.

So often it is easier to do it this way and it becomes the norm, do we then expect everyone else to do this? Not everyone wants to use a computer, mobile phone or other gadgets.

Technology is great to get the results that we need straight away, as we have our office at our fingertips. At the same time it is making us lose the art of conversation.
