Corporate Responsibility Report looks at how our workforce reflects the diverse communities we serve
We are committed to being an equal opportunities employer. Diversity must be seen as a core management issue.
Key achievements:
Last year we created a new Diversity Council, with the objective of improving diversity across the business and to drive positive change. The Council includes representatives from across the business and our unions.
The diversity strategy has been created jointly with input from stakeholders. It serves to recognise the various initiatives that are being created to form an inclusive workplace in which difference is respected and encouraged. We plan to create an environment in which all individuals are able to make best use of their skills, free from discrimination or harassment.
Company secretary Emily Pang says: ‘Our focus is to ensure diversity is seen as a core management priority within Royal Mail. We are pleased with our successes to date, and promoting best practice in equal opportunities will remain a priority going forward. However, we recognise there is much more to do.
‘Our ultimate aim is to create a culture of inclusiveness and to make Royal Mail Group an employer of choice for everyone, irrespective of their background.’
