More than 100 Royal Mail employees and their supporters were wearing red T-shirts with the company’s new Pride slogan ‘Delivering with Pride’. An imitation rainbow postbox was displayed on the float.
The group walked behind our Royal Mail Pride-themed float as it made its way through central London, blasting out pop classics such as ‘Please Mr Postman’ by The Carpenters and the Spice Girls ‘Wannabe’ to keep the crowds entertained. Our rainbow postbox pin badges and postcards were a big hit with colleagues and spectators alike. Rainbow postbox is now touring Royal Mail sites across the UK!
Postwomen Natalie Frost and Julie Barrett from South Midlands mail centre were delighted to attend.
Natalie said: ‘It’s fantastic that Royal Mail has a presence at Pride – it’s about time! It makes me happy that my employer is supporting equality for everyone.’
Julie, who is known as Arnie to her Midlands colleagues, agreed. ‘It’s amazing to see so many people here,’ she said.
‘I’m having a great time, meeting people from across the business. I hope that next year, colleagues will see how much fun we’ve had and there’ll be even more of us.
‘The response from the public on seeing Royal Mail here has been brilliant too.’
