Transitioning from contractor to permanent employee, Siobhan shares an exciting journey that exemplifies Thales' commitment to nurturing talent.

What do you enjoy about your job?

Firstly, the people – I get to work with many passionate and creative people in TLC & wider HR which makes coming into the office a pleasure. In addition, I meet people from across the organisation in my daily work to investigate, consult and collaborate on various digital learning solutions that could be implemented with my team.

I find in my role, though there are standards for learning we need to adhere to, there is a lot of flexibility in what the end product could be based on the needs of the end user so I enjoy hearing from the ‘voice of the customer’ to keep us delivering quality. With a small team, we need to focus on optimisation and efficiency which means we align with our UK objectives and really feel that we are delivering quality, value-driven and impactful solutions.

 

How has Thales helped you excel your career?

I have gone from being a contractor to a permanent employee and have worked for Thales for 4 years now. As a working mother keen to re-ignite my career after a 4-year break, Thales has been fundamental to me securing my current role through continuous support, accelerated learning, and flexible working. My Director even helped me shape a role that would give me more breadth to showcase my skills after a leadership secondment role. The secondment was an amazing way to grow my skills and put learning gained through an accelerated leadership programme, Solaris Executive Leadership Development, into practice within a safe environment and with the full support of my leader.

In addition to the Solaris programme, I have been encouraged and supported through sponsorship to do a CIPD in HR, and complete internal programmes like Mindset to Growth and Coaching as a Leadership Style to support Thales to embed mindset and coaching into the organisational culture.
