Last week I travelled up to London as I was lucky enough to be invited to Nick Cleggs Opening Doors Business Awards, at Lancaster House. After only being at Nationwide for just over 6 months, this for me was a great privilege. I got to spend the afternoon networking with many other apprentices, interns and graduates along with senior members from other organisations, whilst enjoying complimentary tea, coffee, fruit juice and canapes. The event itself wasn't as formal as I believed it would be, they had a band playing live music the whole time, and the guest speakers were all down to earth and inspiring.
Nick Clegg stayed for a while after the event, taking the time to have photos and talk to the young people and the journey they are on within their organisation. I was one of those, he wished me well on my apprenticeship and I even got my photo with him. I had never been to an event like this before and never expected to go to one, being an apprentice at Nationwide gave me this opportunity and I felt proud to be there representing them and be able to express the good they are doing for young people across the organisation.
