Welcome to VERCIDA website.
Skip to main contentThis headline was quite pertinent for me, as I will be 55 next year and still without a job, since 2010.
In a blog I wrote earlier this year, I was saying how difficult it was trying to find a job, after having tried a job in caring and finding it hard as I have a weak left side.
Reading the Daily Mail on Saturday 20th December it has been recognised by the government that while there are people with talent and life skills, they lack the knowledge of online skills, particularly as technology is updating all the time.
Businesses are focussing on the younger generation, by developing their careers and ignoring the people who have the experience and are realising that they value and more importantly life skills.
It is also stated that the over 50's are out of work longer than those of a younger age. Age UK say that older people do have an important part in employment.
So with the new government incentive to help those in their mid 50's, it gives them the prospect of new skills in computing and building links in new firms and for them to support younger colleagues in developing their careers.
With the development of of skills in computing, it will encourage them to continue the development of them for use in later life, so they don't feel isolated as they get older, as they are able to communicate with the younger generation.
It is also important that these people are confident in using social media as technology is doing away with paper and therefore they need to know it is safe and secure for them to use.
As we get older we are more wary of social media so we need the confidence to use it, to enable them to find a job.
