Early Careers

The RFU’s National Youth Council are recruiting an additional four volunteers to join them for next season and make an impact across the game.

The National Youth Council gives young people a voice so that they can make their views heard in the decision-making process, while also providing meaningful opportunities for members to develop and expand their network.

Members are aged from 18 to 25, and as well as offering perspective on England’s young players, volunteers, and fans, are actively involved in RFU sub-committees and working groups. They help to identify and develop projects which will have a lasting impact on the growth of the game and youth representation.

This season the National Youth Council has developed and produced case studies to bring to life how clubs can engage more young volunteers, worked with several Constituent Bodies to increase youth representation at the local level and attended RFU Council meetings, providing the opportunity to address important issues and make an impact on the development of rugby.

Kirsten Flower, Chair of the National Youth Council, says: “Being on the National Youth Council has provided so many opportunities to further my personal and professional development both within and outside rugby”

As part of the role, there will also be the opportunity to join one of the following sub-committees: Club & CB Development, Game Development, and the Rugby Football Referees Union, all of which offer the chance to both help rugby flourish and develop an impressive CV.

The NYC is looking for outstanding applicants who are passionate about rugby and making a difference. They will have the creativity and drive to take forward ideas and projects and want to influence change and develop a legacy in rugby.

Through serving on the NYC, they will be able to take their volunteering to the next level by developing personal and professional skills and working as part of a team.

OPPORTUNITIES THAT COME WITH THE ROLE

The NYC role comes with the chance to develop valuable skills, gain access to a mentor, and shape the future development of rugby.
