Joining the Compact has been another necessary step on Haymarket’s sustainability journey. The Compact features 10 action points that publishers, publishing associations and others can commit to undertaking in order to accelerate progress to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
Signatories aspire to develop sustainable practices and act as champions of the SDGs during this pivotal ‘Decade of Action’ (2020-2030).
As its Member of the Month, Kevin Costello, Haymarket’s global chief executive, shared an update of just some of our recent work that has positively contributed to the wider sustainability agenda.
A summary of the examples shared for inclusion as 'Member of the Month' were:
Working with the Advertising Association's Ad Net Zero campaign - aiming to make the UK's advertising industry net zero by 2030 - to launch the Campaign Ad Net Zero Awards, which will award advertising agencies for sustainability initiatives
Launching a table of inhaler carbon emissions in our medical title MIMS
Launching a section on sustainability in our title GP, which helps General Practitioners in the UK to cut carbon emissions and help the NHS achieve their targets
The environmental publication, the ENDS Report, has launched a Net Zero channel to cover news and analysis on net zero and carbon reduction
ENDS Compliance Manager tracks legislation to help firms demonstrate compliance in support of major EHS management standards
Partnerships Bulletin's Net Zero Partnerships Report 2021 discussed the trends in infrastructure projects where UK authorities are working in partnership with the private sector to improve environmental performance and help meet targets around reducing carbon emission
World Architecture News launched the World Build Podcast, covering topics including carbon neutrality, climate and healthy communities, sustainable hotels, reducing embodied carbon, renewable energy, climate-ready architecture, resiliency and sustainability accreditations
The C&IT Sustainability Forum will run for its second year in November, partnering with key climate industry initiatives: ISLA, Ad Net Zero and Event Cycle
