What is your role at Teneo?
My role involves leading restructuring engagements, such as advisory mandates for lenders, shareholders and corporate clients, as well as insolvency assignments.
In addition to my client work I am Talent Manager / coach for five members of the national restructuring team. I am also working with Teneo HR to develop our Financial Advisory interview processes - with a particular focus on diversity and inclusion.
What is your career background and qualifications?
I have worked in restructuring since 2008, following qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in audit with a mid-tier firm.
I was promoted to Director promotion on transfer of the Deloitte Restructuring team to Teneo in 2021.

What challenges have you faced in your career?
There have been quiet spells in the Scottish restructuring market in recent years, which could have been a limiting factor in building my experience over a period where I was keen to limit travel with work whilst my girls were very small. I dealt with this by focusing on opportunities to do interesting, challenging work and to develop my leadership skills through secondments to national restructuring roles.
Working from home during lockdown with two young children and my husband also working from home was very challenging. Being able to pick up the phone to supportive colleagues really helped.
What has been your greatest achievement?
At work - achieving Director promotion. The promotion process was tough but it was hugely worthwhile from a development point of view.
Outside of work – I’m very proud of my happy, loving daughters
What do you like to do when you are not at work?
When I am not at work, I spend time with my husband and two girls (4 and 7). We are really enjoying having a more sociable and active family life than has been possible over the last couple of years.
I spend a lot of time planning holidays - we have a couple of holidays coming up (one being to Disneyland Paris).
If you could give career advice to your younger self, what would it be?
I would encourage my younger self to be more proactive in seeking out career development support – if a particular coaching relationship isn’t working there are other options.
I would also say ‘back yourself’ to my younger self!
