DVLA and DVSA Celebrate Success in Technology Field

On 13 September two of our agency colleagues won top accolades at the Information Age Tech Leaders Awards ceremony, at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, London.

Congratulations to James Munson, Director of Digital Services and Technology at DVSA, who won Transformation Leader of the Year and Dave Perry, Chief Technology Officer at the DVLA, who won CTO of the Year. With 300 nominations across 14 categories this is a fantastic achievement and worth celebrating.

The Tech Leaders Awards programme brings together the highest achievers in tech leadership and showcases the powerful contribution that technology and innovation has to offer. While the awards are designed to recognise the different talents involved in tech leadership, all winners share the same desire for using technology to drive business value and find better ways of doing things.

Hundreds of the UK’s top business and technology leaders attended the awards ceremony to recognise those at the forefront of helping large organisations use technology to its full potential.

In awarding the Transformation Leader of the Year to James Munson, the judges acknowledged the work the whole Digital Services and Technology team are doing to transform DVSA into a more digitally enabled organisation.

James said:

“While, in theory, this award was handed to me as the executive, in reality it recognises the consistent hard work from the whole of our directorate and all those in the agency involved in

the transformation of our services.

It’s also great exposure for DVSA and the transformation we are going through. It marks us out as a leader in our field and is recognition for us all on the progress we’re making in transforming the digital services and technology of the agency. The award also helps to further build our external profile and attract people from outside to DVSA as we continue to build internal capability.”

Dave Perry won CTO of the Year for demonstrating positive impact and driving new customer value through the innovative use of technology.

Dave said:

“I’m very pleased to win this award, but it wouldn’t be possible without the great efforts of the fantastic team here at DVLA. It reflects the maturity and scale of the capability that we have in the IT function within the agency.”
